It is always exciting to go up in a plane.  Obviously aerial photography opens new possibilities, but making the most of it is not as simple as one would think.  Because of G-forces, a person's sense of level is thrown off.  It takes a lot of practice to be able to shoot photos with straight horizons, and to keep the wheel and struts out of the photo.  All of the factors having to do with lighting apply in the air as they do on the ground.  There are new technical considerations due to shake and vibration.   Mostly one needs to be good at recognizing patterns on the ground and be able to direct the pilot in such a way that for an instant the photographer is in the right place.  The camera is aimed at an angle looking backwards.  I am often asked to photograph specific locations for clients.  Doing so involves good navigation skills.  To see some of my aerial photography click on link below.
